Professional Assistance with a Variety of Legal Matters.
Divorce:
When you are contemplating divorce, working closely with an attorney who will explain your rights, options, and consequences can help ensure that you make decisions in your best interests. Involving a knowledgeable family law attorney as soon as possible in the divorce process is one of the best ways to preserve your own long-term financial and emotional health.
Alimony:
Alimony, also known as spousal support or maintenance, is financial support paid by one spouse to another. Each state determines alimony differently. Consult with an attorney in your state to determine what factors will be considered when deciding if, how much, and to whom alimony will be paid in your case.
Child Custody:
Our firm works in the best interests of the child. If the custody cannot be agreed upon, the judge will appoint a guardian ad litem to represent the best interests of your children. We educate clients about those interests and about the assumptions of the courts. The courts require mediation to resolve child custody disputes, before the final trial. We can arrange to hire a skilled mediator and will represent you during the process. Using mediation is often less stressful, less expensive, and faster than traditional litigation.
Child Support:
Determining child support requires full reporting of income and expenses on both sides. Besides providing for child support when parents’ divorce, state law requires all parents to support their children even if they were never married. We represent mothers seeking to obtain child support and fathers who wish to be involved in their children's lives, paying support and receiving visitation. In both instances, a paternity test may be needed to resolve disputes.
Probate, Wills or Deeds:
When it comes to planning your will or estate, we know all the complex details of state and federal laws that deal with the settlement of assets and liabilities.
Guardian Ad Litem:
Guardians ad litem, or legal guardian, are often appointed in divorce cases or in parenting time disputes to represent the interests of the minor children. We will serve in the best interests of the child and work to educate our clients about those interests and about the assumptions of the courts.
